In Depth
UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) is the post-Brexit product conformity marking required for many products placed on the Great Britain market: England, Wales, and Scotland (Northern Ireland uses CE/UKNI).
UKCA requirements broadly mirror CE marking but use UK-designated standards and UK-approved bodies for conformity assessment. The UK government extended CE acceptance for most product categories indefinitely as of August 2023, but UKCA remains the primary mark and is mandatory for some product categories including construction products.
Hardware teams selling into GB should plan for UKCA in parallel with CE marking, especially when relying on UK-only approved bodies.
